Origin & history

Rosehips — the fruit left behind once the rose has flowered — have been used in European herbal medicine for centuries. The oil pressed from their seeds is a far more recent arrival, and most of it now comes from Rosa rubiginosa naturalised in South America. Its standing in skincare rests on modern dermatological research rather than on any long cosmetic tradition, and we prefer to say that plainly.
