Origin & history
Rosemary has been in cosmetic use a very long time. Bouquets were placed in pharaohs' tombs; Dioscorides recorded it perfuming rooms in the first century; Hippocrates, Galen and Avicenna all described ointments of rosemary macerated in olive oil. In the fourteenth century it gave its name to Hungary Water, a rosemary preparation associated with the Queen Consort of Hungary and among the first alcohol-based perfumes.
