Origen e historia

Sea buckthorn's medicinal use is recorded in the Tibetan medical classic Somaratsa, written in the first half of the eighth century, and in Mongolian pharmacopoeia. Its botanical name comes from the Greek for shining horse: the leaves were fed to horses in antiquity, reputedly for the gloss it gave their coats. From the 1940s Russian scientists studied the berries closely, developing foods and radiation-protection creams for cosmonauts.
